Safety tips for meeting new people from the internet (platonically)
Most people you meet through a friendship app are just like you — curious and a little nervous. A few simple habits keep it that way.
Meet in public, in daylight if you prefer
Cafés, parks, markets and museums are ideal first meetups. Avoid private homes and car rides with people you have not met before.
Prefer small groups
Meeting in a small group of three to six is naturally safer and less awkward than one-to-one meetings with strangers.
Share your plans
Tell a friend where you are going and when you expect to be back. Keep your phone charged.
Watch for pressure
Requests for money, pushing to move somewhere private, or turning a friendly plan into a date are all reasons to leave. You never owe anyone more of your time.
Use report and block
Good platforms make it quick to report and block. Sidecar plans are platonic by design, meet in public places and every member agrees to a community pledge before joining.
